We’re so excited for this year’s Spring Fair at Nootka Elementary. This year the fair will be on Saturday June 7th from 11-3pm. We’ve got giant inflatable games, a pedal car rodeo, balloon animals, face painting, live entertainment, prizes, a splash tower, and so much more! Wristbands are now available for purchase on Munchalunch – prices are on a sliding scale so all can participate, and all proceeds will go towards fundraising for new computers at the school. Please give what you can! 

Putting an event together like this takes so much work and we can’t do it without your help! Please consider volunteering to make sure that this year’s fair is a success. Check out the sign up sheet by clicking here to see how you can get involved!

Mark your calendars! Thursday February 13th is the night of our Glow Dance Fundraiser! This fun event will be pay at the door by donation, and all proceeds from door & glow stick sales will go towards the purchase of new computers for our school.

There will be a special timeslot for younger children between 6-7pm, after which all grades will be welcome to join. Pizza, Drinks and Snacks will be also be available, hosted by the Grade 7 committee! They will be hard at work fundraising for their leaving ceremony, so get ready to stock up on snacks!

Please note – this dance is for Nootka students only. Parental/Adult Supervision will be required, and children arriving without an adult will be turned away.

It’s hard to believe that our children will be graduating from elementary school in a few months and off to secondary school! 

We are looking for parents to join the G7 Committee to help plan, volunteer and fundraise for the G7 leaving party! 

We have our first event coming up to run the concession at the Valentine’s Day dance on February 13.

8. Grade 7 Graduation Committee?

Laura Secord PAC is hosting an evening presentation from 6:30-7:30pm on Tuesday, February 25th and would like to invite the parents and caregivers of all our neighbouring schools to join if they wish.  Please share with your parent community.  Here is the write up we have on our website about it.

With Covid, there has been an uptick of children suffering from anxiety, depression and a whole myriad of other mental health issues.  Often trying to navigate through our system and find help for our children is confusing and frustrating.  This year we have reached out to FamilySmart, who work through the BC Children’s Kelty Mental Health Resource Centre, which offers family peer support.  They are a national non-profit that provides aid in navigating the complex BC system, resources, training, and emotional support to families in British Columbia with children and youth who are struggling with mental health or substance use issues. Often, we as parents, focus so much on helping our children that we forget about ourselves.   

On Tuesday, February 25th, Laura Secord PAC will be hosting an evening with FamilySmart with two of their parent peer supporters, Melina and Amy, both with lived experiences.  The presentation will be from 6:30-7:30 pm and will give an overview of FamilySmart, what is does and how you can access their help, followed by Melina and Amy sharing their experiences and then a Q & A where you can ask more specific questions that may be more useful to yourself. 

Free childcare will be available, provided by our senior students (all with their baby sitting certificates).  All parents and caregivers in our community are welcome (not just Secord parents), so you can spread the word.  Please sign up here and indicate if you’ll need childcare and how many children you’ll be bringing.

Sing Dance Act Shine! At Lights Up Afterschool, your child can experience the joys and benefits of musical theatre by taking part in our afterschool programs led by our talented and experienced Lights Up Musical Theatre Schools staff. These classes are a unique introduction to our weekend musical theatre programs and provide students with an enriching, rewarding, and most of all, fun afterschool activity right at the bell! 

WINTER SHOW! INSIDE OUT!

This Winter, we will be putting on a musical created specifically for our afterschool students! Inspired by the movies of the same name, students will sing, dance, and act their hearts out as they join Riley on a journey through her emotions!

Students will be supervised from dismissal. No need to pick up your child until 5:15pm! Performance on the last day of classes for parents!
